How it Works

The unhomogenised product enters the valve area at high pressure and low velocity. As the product passes through the adjustable, close clearance area between the valve and seat, there is a rapid increase in velocity with a corresponding decrease in pressure. The intense energy release produces a strong turbulent flow that tears apart the particles. The homogenised product impinges on the impact ring and exits at a pressure sufficient for movement to the next processing stage.

The single-stage valve assembly can be used to process all dispersions and is recommended for cell disruption. Typical applications include pigment dispersions and disruption of E.coli and yeast cells.

The two-stage valve assembly is recommended for processing of most emulsions especially for flavour, beverage or cloud emulsions.
